Pruning to shape can be done anytime throughout the year. Thinning of overcrowded stems or a radical rejuvenation type pruning are normally done during the winter months.
Planting Instructions:
Virginia Creeper will grow in a variety of soils in sun or shade and is relatively fool proof. Dig a hole about twice the depth and width of the pot you are planting out of. Fill the bottom half of the hole with a mixture of good topsoil and well-rotted manure or compost. Place the root ball in the hole so that the old soil of the root ball is barely covered at ground level. There is no need to bury any stem. Backfill with a handful of bone meal mixed with topsoil.
