Ligularia Elephant Ear

Ligularia / Othello

Colourful shade plant. Sometimes called 'Elephant Ears', this is a bold speciman perennial that needs a moist location. Superb for the back of the border, or at the waterside.

Features:

Plants form a clump of large, rounded dark-green leaves with  a purple backside. Taller stems appear in June, bearing clusters of bright golden orange daisy flowers.

Friendly.

Care and Dead Heading:

Watch for slugs.

Planting Instructions:

Dig hole twice as wide as the container and 1-1/2 the depth. Remove container and gently massage the roots. Place root ball in center of the hole even with ground level. Backfill hole with mixture of 1/2 native soil and 1/2 soil amendment. Compact lightly and water thoroughly, then repeat. Apply 5-10cm (2-4in) layer of organic mulch & create a water basin around plant.
