Caragana / Weeping
I'm a small, accent plant with weeping branches. I'm drought tolerant once established. I can be a great, focal accent to any landscape and I'm best when other plants are planted below me. I'm top grafted. (Caragana arborescens 'Pendula')
Features:
Yellow pea shaped flowers in the summer. Dark green summer foliage turns yellow in the fall.
Companion Plants:
Dogwood, Elder, Ninebark, Hydrangea, Spirea, Potentilla, Juniper, Daylily, Hosta, Astilbe, Fern.
Care and Dead Heading:
Water me regularly until well established. Once established, I'm drought tolerant and tolerant of most soil conditions. In spring, feed me an all purpose fertilizer prior to new spring growth. Please prune my broken or damaged limbs.
Planting Instructions:
Dig a hole twice as wide as the container and 1-1/2 the depth. Remove container and gently massage the roots. Place root ball in center of the hole even with ground level. Backfill hole with mixture of 1/2 native soil and 1/2 soil amendment. Compact lightly and water thoroughly, then repeat. Apply 5-10cm (2-4in) layer of organic mulch & create a water basin around plant.
